Volunteering for the statewide ROV Competition on April 30th

Central Oregon Coast NOW is a member of the Coastal STEM Hub and some of us have volunteered for this in the past.  It is great fun!!!  They always need lots of volunteers and you do not have to be a scientist of engineer to help.  This is only a one day commitment, so a great thing to volunteer for if you don’t want to make an ongoing commitment.

We are gearing up for the 2016 Oregon Regional MATE ROV Competition which will be held on Saturday, April 30th in North Bend (near Coos Bay). This is one of 23 regional competitions that feeds into the MATE International  ROV Competition. Students from 6th grade through college level have the opportunity to form “companies” and design and build an underwater robot to accomplish specific tasks. In addition to bringing their ROV to compete in the pool, students also create a poster and are interviewed by a panel of engineering judges. We expect over 200 students to participate this year and need 50+ volunteers to help support this event. Volunteer jobs range from divers, to judges, to scorekeepers and other support staff.  If you are interested in participating in this event, please follow the link below to indicate your availability and preference for volunteer assignment. As always, volunteers will be provided with breakfast and lunch.

Please feel free to pass this on to others who may be interested and let me know if you have any question. More information about the program can be found on our website at: http://oregon.marinetech2.org/

Thank you!
